Sarah DeVos

Sarah joined Third Rock as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence in 2026, focused on building companies around oligonucleotide therapeutics and targeted delivery. Her career has centered on one stubborn problem: getting RNA-based medicines into the specific cells that drive disease. It’s a problem she’s been circling since graduate school, and she’s happiest when a program is early enough that the hard questions are still open.

Prior to Third Rock, Sarah was a Drug Maker at Curie.Bio, where she worked as a fractional team member across five portfolio companies in neuroscience and oligonucleotide conjugates, helping founders sharpen strategy and move programs forward. Before that, she spent six years at Denali Therapeutics, where she helped develop and then led the company’s Oligonucleotide Transport Vehicle (OTV) franchise — building the CNS delivery platform and its neurodegeneration programs from the ground up.

Her fascination with oligonucleotides as a drug modality started at Washington University in St. Louis, where her graduate work showed that antisense oligonucleotides could lower tau and reverse pathology in the brain — research that helped seed the Ionis / Biogen tau ASO program (BIIB080) now heading into Phase 3 for Alzheimer’s disease. She went on to study tau aggregation in the context of different drug modalities (ASOs, AAV, Biologics) as a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital. That arc, from a bench experiment to a drug entering the clinic and into patients, is what keeps her in this business.

She grew up in rural Western Michigan, where she hails from apple farmers, and credits 50-odd first cousins with her ability to navigate large, opinionated groups. Outside of work, she’s a lifelong Detroit Lions fan (a study in perseverance) and is always up for good food, wine, travel, and any excuse for a themed party.
