Cosmas Giallourakis, M.D.

I am inspired by the passion that everyone at Third Rock brings to developing companies with a constant focus on how we can impact patients.

Cosmas Giallourakis

Cosmas focuses on collaborating to build the next generation of high impact innovative companies utilizing his experiences at the interface of basic science, drug development and clinical care. Cosmas joined TRV after working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, where he was responsible for developing multiple partnerships and platforms on emerging technologies, along with leading drug development teams in cell and gene therapies. Prior to Takeda Cosmas was a faculty member Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), where he headed a lab centered on fundamental aspects of RNA and epigenetic biology in immunology and stem cells. During his time at MGH and Takeda he maintained an active gastroenterology clinical practice seeing patients with a focus on autoimmune diseases.

Cosmas is continually excited about the ability to draw from the vast amount of experience, insights and commitment from everyone at Third Rock. He truly believes that opportunity to have the time and space to iterate on ideas, plan and execute on building companies gives the teams at Third Rock the best chance to bring meaningful options to patients.

Cosmas studied physics at MIT with training in internal medicine residency at Yale and gastroenterology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. He completed post-doctoral training in immunology in the laboratory of HHMI Professor Frederick Alt, PhD. Cosmas’s greatest accomplishment is having a wonderful wife and extended family and friends.
